As a young girl, I used to dream about what my wedding day would be like. My sister and I would dress up with flowers and veils and act out fake ceremonies in our backyard, avoiding the piles of dog poop as we walked down the 'aisle' to meet Ken Barbie.
While my style and taste has obviously changed since then, I still lived out my dream on June 2nd.

Above all else, I wanted to look like myself. I styled my hair like always and loosely pinned it around my head. I originally intended to wear a birdcage veil, but when I found this headband I fell in love and it felt more "me". As for the dress, I'd seen it in a magazine and hunted it down after only trying on one other.
Getting ready was so fun. I gave the girls robes as a gift for being in the wedding (along with clutches, handmade earrings, and scrapbooks of our memories), and we shared wine while getting dolled up in them.

As you can see, the wedding was full of red hair!
When my dad first saw me (a moment I'd anticipated forever and would get emotional just thinking about), I absolutely melted and we both wept.

Kevin and I chose to see each other before the ceremony, a great decision considering how much I cried. Having that intimate moment to hold each other and take everything in was really special and romantic. I'll never forget the feeling of seeing him waiting for me, or the look on his face when he turned.

More to come this week from the ceremony and reception.
